SISU
Sisu is worthy of his name. He's got grit enough to
even walk through stone! Sisu
came
to us from Australia when he was about 12 weeks old. Sisu was
supposed to bring some new blood to the Finnish breeding program of the
white
shepherd. Unfortunately his other testicle didn't show and his hips
were C/D. Despite the hips we got a permission to engage in any
hobbies we would like.
We started doing agility in a puppy-group as soon as Sisu arrived. Sisu
was extremely talented and fast white shepherd. It was such a shame
that he hit bars a lot.
We tried everything but it only got worse. We worked hard for four
years with Sisu and got to the Maxi2-class. Then we ended his
agility-career. Many still remembers him as a very talented and
technically proficient agility-dog. I wonder what we would have been
able to gain if only he had been able to keep the bars!
We have also done some obedience with Sisu. We have however never
competed in obedience since I am not able to take him to the group
excercise of long down with other dogs. Sisu is aggressive
towards other dogs. He does accept his own pack and strong bitches but
other dogs not. This is why I can't take the risk. Sisu knows all the
excercises of novice and open class.
As Obedience was not going to bring us any achievements we decided to
try Rally-obedience. This was fun. We trialed in novice and Sisu has
gained the access to open class. Perhaps we will continue someday.
Sisu has also gained some results in Water Rescue. He has shown his
aptitude for water rescuing and completed novice-class. Sisu has gained
the right to participate in open class in this sport also.
Unfortunately we don't have time to go further with this hobby.
Sisu pulled a cart and has been a sled-dog for kids. Nowadays Sisu is
mainly
spending well-earned retirement days.
The hips have so far not troubled Sisu at all. His body is a
little bit one-sided but with good treatments he stays in shape. Sisu
loves our kids and enjoys playing with our other dogs. Especially he
loves to play with our border collie boy, Jim.
Sisu is our teddybear who loves food and cuddles. He has caused quite
many destructions for instance a water damage that caused us to live in
evacuation from our own home for one month. He is a very active white!
Often so
irritating yet so lovable!
